SHAPING UP FAST AT HAWTHORNE. George Smith and Gillies are stabled at Hawthorne fit and ready for their parts in the Derby next Saturday. Many other horses have arrived and the track is now a scene of cheering activity. The close at Latonia today will bring a regular deluge of horses to the track. The announcement that the Schorr and McDowell horses are to be sent east instead of coming here will excite regret. Many local enthusiasts had centered upon Dick Williams as their Derby horse and will be keenly disappointed.
