GARTLEY began slowly, but moved up with a rush after entering the homestretch and outstayed CORN BROOM in the final drive. The latter showed the most speed in pacemaking for tlie first half, then tired badly in the last eighth. IRISH HEART ran well, but was driving hard at the end to outstay MAUSOLUS. The latter closed a big gap and finished with a rush. GOOD SHOT showed speed but tired. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Overweights Dorothy Carlin. 2 pounds; Heclas Flame. COPPER KING was much used in forcing and setting the pace and his rider was of little help when it came to the finish. TROUT FLY set a good early pace, but quit in tiie last quarter. PEEP SIGHT forced the pace for the first live-eighths, then tired after passing EULOGY and just lasted long enough to win. COMMENSIA finished fast and probably was best, but her rider was of no help to her when it came to a hard filial drive. BRANDYWINE closed a big gap and outgamed EULOGY. The latter ran well and finished close up. REPTON closed a big gap and was running fastest of all at the end. ROSEMARY quit after setting a fast pace to the stretch.
