Mackenzies Leo Skolny showed an excellent performance in todays feature race at Fort Erie, when lie shouldered 115 pounds, came from behind and beat Thornhill in easy fashion. The winner ran the mile and seventy yards in 1:42, which was within one-fifth of a second of the track record, made by Love Tie, July 4, 1912. The race was marked by a terrific pace set by Thornhill, which , -went the first three-quarters in 1:12. Some of the horsemen racing here proposed to ask the racing associations to change the conditions of the claiming races. Under the present conditions any horse in the race, including the winner, may be claimed for the selling price, but those who are dissatisfied with these conditions want them to provide that any horse in the race may be claimed for the entered amount, plus the amount of the purse. This means that the owuer of a winner, provided he is claimed, will be getting two purses besides the entered price. The object of these claiming races is to protect horsemen from entering horses out of their class, and if this suggestion is adopted it is held by some that it will rob these claiming races of the object for which they were intended. The string racing in the name of the Mirasol Stable was shipped to the Windsor track on Saturday. The useful horse Runes was included in. the band.
