WINDSORS DOUBLE EVENT ITS HALF FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS WON BY KAMA IN A CANTER. Commonada Defeats Runes in tlio Bello Isle Handicap Firo at tho Track Horses Coming to Chicago. v Detroit, Mich., July 20. The second half of the Windsor Double Event, was provided as a feature by the Windsor Jockey Club this afternoon. The first half of this stake was run last year and was won by Sweet Colleen. In todays race the latter made a sorry exhibition, being beaten by both Kama and Kathleen II. Kama outclassed his opponents and McAtee. after racing into an easy lead in the first half, had him under stout restraint for the n lider of the way. At the finish he was onlv can.ering. The race was at a mile and an eighth and was worth .117 to the winner. The Belle Isle Handicap was an additional feature. This race was at a mile, and for a purse or . It furnished a splendid contest between ommiiuada and Runes, and in the final drive the former proved the gamer, and won by a scant length. Runes was ridden by Robinson, the regular stable jockey-, Parringtou, being unable to ride on account of illness. A fire which broke out. in the feed store Inst night completely destroyed that structure. The feed store was located at the upper end of the track and was surrounded by stables. Fortunately, there was not. a breath of wind stirring when the fire broke out anil the conflagration was confined to the one building. Alhena changed hands a couple of times, after his victory in the closing race yesterday. Sam Louis took him from Harry Kites and imiiiediately disposei of him at private sale to William Walker for the same price at which he bought him, ,200. K. K. Bradley accounted for Frigerios defeat in the first race yesterday on the ground that the colt might have been short. At all events, Fri-gerio did not run up to the high-class form he displayed in his races over the Kentucky tracks. This youngster, together with the remainder of the Bradley horses, will be shipped from here to Saratoga. II. d. Red well lias notified the stewards that the apprentice A. Campbell has left his employment and he wishes to warn owners not to harbor the lad. as he holds a contract on his services. Campbell disappeared when Bedwtdl shipped from Fort Erie to Chicago. M. Lowcnsteiii has decided to ship his stable, which includes Hocnir and Birka, to Chicago at tlie conclusion of the meeting here. Several stables will leave for Hamilton tomorrow and three big special trains will depart for that track on Monday. The full sisters Commensia and Mariauao finished one-two in the opening race this afternoon. The former is a four-year-old and the latter a three-year-ohl. Both are by The Commoner llortmsia. Top o th .Morning changed hands after he won the sixth race. He was bought by Paul Powers for ,700, an advance; of 00 over his entered price.
