CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey M. Buxton has gone to Saratoga. Jockey L. Minks apprentice; allowance has expired. James C. McDonald has sold Burglar and Peaceful Star to C. N. Darke. Tommy McTaggart has been having much trouble in making reasonable riding weight of late. John Mnhonoy. formerly a bookmaker on the New York tracks, and a backer of bookmakers in a financial way before the passage of the Agnew-llart bill, died at his home at Little Silver, near Shrewsbury, N. J.. Monday. The Knocker, the Onook Stables strapping Walerboy Kiamesha colt, which ran second to Killdee at Empire City Tuesday, is rapidly improving. He is considered the best of the juveniles under the care of William II. Karrick. E. II. Garrison, acting for Mrs. Edward Arlington, has bought from Jefferson Livingston the imported bay gelding. Longfellow. 4. by Chaucer Kalydor. Longfellow will be shipped to Saratoga next Sunday along with fifteen other thoroughbreds which trainer Garrison has in chdrge. Martin Nathauson. who resigned as presiding judge and racing secretary at Mount Royal Park as a result of tlie compliance of the management with the demands of the horsemen in relation to the splitting of races, was later on prevailed upon to accept the position of presiding steward at the track. The ,100 yearling bought at the Morris sale by Max llirsch for Congressman G. W. ldt has joined the llirsch stable at Empire City. The two yearlings bought by E. F. Whitney were sent to Syosset. D. O. Millers yearling was scut to H. T-. Powers place at Shrewsbury, N. J., and the two bought by the; Carolina Stable will be sent to Kentucky to" be broken and trained. Trainer D. R. MeDaiiiel. who has charge of Grant Hugh Brownes horses, has been sending along Giinbearer. Canon Bridge and King Herod lather smartly of late. They are all imported animals. Guiiboaor and Canon Bridge are own brothers, tin; first mentioned being five and tlie other four years old. The are by Fowling-piece Wey-bridge. The other. King Herod, is a big chestnut two-year-old by Colin Acalot, which was purchased for .Air. Browne from Thomas Welch. He is a grand looking colt, with a good way of going. W. F. Doe Martin, who is training the Kentucky Stable horses, says he expects to receive at Saratoga three two-year-olds to be added to his stable, as a message had been sent to Kentucky to have them forwarded at once. Two of them were imported from England, and the other was bred in this country. The imported two-year-olds are Swoon, gr. c, by Senseless Cocaine, and Al Hudson, b. c. by Santry Mirfiohl. The American-bred is the filly Galloping Queen, by Ben Brush.
