BERLIN GRAND PRIZE TO ANSCHLUSS. The Grand Prize of Berlin, which was not run a year ago, was the feature of the program last Sunday week at Berlin-Gruenewald. It was a mile and a half affair of the gross value of 5,000 sovereigns, and attracted a field of ten. The winner, I see from "Deutscher Sport" was the Royal Graditz Studs four-year-old Anschluss, which carried the top weight and scored from Herr Haniels Lauguard and Freilierr von Oppenheims Antivari. The chief German stables seem to be winning the lions share of the races, Anschluss having pre-vously secured several big events this season. His last victory has brought the Graditz winnings to over 12,600 pounds; the Herren von Weinberg, which recently won the German Derby with Amorino, have given about 3,000 pounds of the winnings to various war and relief funds. Rastenberger, the rider of Anschluss, guided three other winers during the afternoon, while the American jockeys, Arichibald and Korb, between them, won the three remaining events, of which the former accounted for two. The big winner, Anschluss, is by the French-bred sire Nuage out of Antwort, by Ard Patrick out of Alveole, the last named a mare by Crafton out of St. Alvere. Thus, on the dams side he traces back to Lord Chaplins famous Blankney blood, St. Alvere being by Hermit out of Adelaide, by Young Melbourne. "Vigilant" in London Sportsman of July 18.
