MORE SELLING RACE RULE TINKERING. Saratoga. August 2. The amended selling rule as proposed by II. K. Knapp and seconded by Andrew Miller is as follows: "Every horse running in a selling nice shall if the winner be liable to be claimed for the selling price by the owner of any other horse running in the race, but if it is a condition of the race that the winner shall be sold by auction the sale shall take place immediately after the race ami the surplus over the selling price shall be equally divided among the lirst three horses." Commenting on the proposed change in the selling-race rule, Andrew Miller said: "We are endeavoring to prevent the present selling race abuses and the proposed change seems to fit the purpose. It will eventually come to the French method, I believe, where promiscuous claiming is indulged in, even before the race, and if this amendment is offered I shall vote for it." The next meeting of the Jockey Club stewards will be held August 10. The above amendment was proposed at the last meeting of the Jockey Club stewards and will be voted on at their next meeting, according to information from a reliable source.
