CLOSE FINISHES AT DUFFERIN PARK. Toronto, Out., Aug. 2. The summer meeting of the Metropolitan Racing Association commenced here this afternoon under ideal racing conditions. The attendance was good, despite the counter attraction of racing at Hamilton. The majority of the eight races were contested by large and well matched fields and close finishes resulted. River King, Impression and Zin Del were under hard drives to win their respective races. The latter was making her initial appearance at this track, she is a popular favorite locally, was well supported and her victory was probably the most popular of the day. Jockey Wolstenholm was suspended for throe days, for all but his contract employer, J. Johnston, for foul riding on Impression in the stretch in the seventh race. Jockeys C. Gross and C. Peak were suspended for two days bv the starter for disobedience at the post, but they will be permitted to ride out their engagements tomorrow. Four carloads of horses arrived from Maison-neuve and more are due to arrive tomorrow. Several horses will be shipped here from Hamilton at the close of the racing there. . i . ; 1 , . ! ;
