HORSES STILL AT BELH0NT PARK. New York, August 2. There are still some thoroughbreds quartered at. Belmont Park, the most important of those being eight yearlings belonging to Gilford A. Cochran, who already is looking forward to the season of 1917 ami is taking measures to have them go as far forward as practiablo before winter. Seven of the eight were among his weanlings last autumn, and lie eighth, a big brown colt, by King James Price, was bought for him at the Oxnard sale for ,100. What appears to be the best of the band is the chestnut colt by Star Shoot -Veil, but there are other good individuals in the lot. An imported bay f illy by Radium Potorie. is a noteworthy youngster as far as individuality is concerned, and so is the brown colt by Celt Adriana. The others are as follows: Chestnut colt by Trap Rock Marie Frances; bay colt by Marathon--Fads and Fancies; bay colt by Sain Gold an especially good colt, and a pretty bay filly by Sain Spindrift. Mr. Cochran also has in his Belmont Park stable the two-year-old brown filly Triple Crown by Star Shoot Miss Kearney, which, after winning a stake at the Belmont Park spring meeting, wrenched her back and has been thrown out of training temporarily; Whirling Dun, br. g, by Ogden Deviltreo, now on the shelf; Carnival, br. g, 2, by Disguise Pretty Maiden, and the three-year-old bay gelding Hands Off by Plaudit Meddling Mary. All of these Cochran thoroughbreds at Belmont Park are in charge of foreman Al Gnnther, trainer William Midgley having taken the racing division of the stable to Saratoga. Trainer II. Kelly is handling five flat racers at Belmont Park for R. Newman; W. II. Henry is training two maiden steeplechasers, one for A. C. Baird of Boston, and one for Jesse Williamson II. of Philadelphia, and M. Brady is handling eight thoroughbreds for J. E. Davis, five jumpers and three yearlings. Superintendent Polz is busy making preparations for the Belmont Park autumn meeting which will follow the season at Saratoga. ;
