RICKETYS FLASH STAKES MADE AN ADDED STARTER AND WINS FROM A SLOW BEGINNING. Capra Outstays Flying Fairy in the Hoosick Falls Handicap Fernrock Outfinishes The Finn in a Fast Run Race. Saratoga Springs, X. Y., August 9. The Flash Stakes, an old-time fixture which was first run in 18iJ, featured todays racing here and resulted in a victory for II. P. Whitneys Rickety, an added starter, from Ultimatum and Fairy Wand. Rick-etys victory was achieved in game fashion, though in the earlier running it appeared lie would not figure as a factor in the result, for he had dropped far hack, while Ultimatum seemed to he going easily with a good lead. Itiekety made his effort while rounding into the stretch and, after a slight slinking up, passed the leader to win with speed in reserve. Uun for the forty-second time today, the Flash Stakes is one of the oldest fixtures on the American turf, having been instituted in 1SG0. Its history, briefly summarized, follows: Year. Winner. Wt.
