Threatening weather, coupled with a bad track, . was responsible for a slump in attendance and a somewhat ordinary card. The sport, however, was interesting, some of the finishes being of the close variety. Passing Fancy showed a sterling performance in the opening dash, winning after her chances appeared hopeless on account of practically being left at the post. She was much the best, for she wore dewn the others steadily and won easing up. Otto Floto furnished the upset in the steeplechase by boating Ormead and Racebrook. His victory was assisted by the repeated blunders of the latter pair. Hauberk upset what was intended as a gigantic coup when lie landed in front of Kens. The latter showed a high flight of speed but tired in the stretch. Startling, the favorite of this race, finished far back. Hussy enabled trainer Henry McDaniel to make an auspicious beginning for his new employer, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, as she won with great ease over Sunflasli. At a meeting of the Saratoga Associations directors all the old officers in all departments were reelected. The directors also voted a five per cent dividend on the stock.
