CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The Relmont Park races are to begin at 2:41 jt. in. during the remainder of the meeting. Frank .1. Rryau has gone to Montreal, who.; hi; will act. as one of the stewards at the I.lue I.o.inets meeting. The chestnut colt Threo Cheers, one of the bist-looking youngsters in the James Fitzsfiiimiuis suable, lias injured one of his forefeet and is temporarily out of training. Trainer James McCormack announces that. James Butlers good four-year-old Pebbles, by Ren Rrush -Running Stream, by Domino, has been permanently retired to the stud." He will be the premier sire at Kastviow for 1917. A deal by which V. C. Saunders of Lexington is to become the owner of approximately 1,500 acres of the llnggin estate in Kentucky has practically been concluded. The tract, for which negotiations are under way, is a section of the Klmendorf Kami, which lies on the Maysville pike, near the ltourhon County line. The sale, if consummated, will dispose if the first parcel of farm land of the estate since the death of Mr. Ilaggin. George M. Odom says that just now he has but one horse in his stable fit to nice. This is the little two year-old bay gelding Yellowstone. The smart three-year-old filly Sprint will not be started before the Laurel meeting, where she will carry the colors of Captain A. R. Hancock, who bought her with the view of placing her in the stud when her racing career shall have been completed. The others in this stable will rest until the opening or racing at Laurel. Trainer S. C. Hihlreth weighed Friar Rock recently and found that, his weight was just 925 lionuds, not much for a colt that has done what he has in the matter of stake winning this year. He always has been regarded as a little fellow, but there was another good little horse on the American turf not long ago, and that was Olambala, the sire of the 191ti turf hero, Campfire. Olambala was a chestnut colt foaled in 1900, by imported Ornus son of Rend Or out of Rlue and White by Virgil. He was rather taller than Friar Rock, but he appeared to be a slender light-waisted fellow and weighed only 875 pounds.
