CONFEDERATED HORSEMEN TO MEET. Lexington. Kv.. September 2. The semi-annual meeting of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse Association will be held next Saturday night at the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington. The article of incorporation will be amended to drop the word Ken-tuckv from the name. Racing Secretary W. IL Shelley and track superintendent James I. Ross, say that prospects for fine meeting here were never brighter. Heavy rain fell vesterdav afternoon and last night, and. though it left the track heavy, produced a wonderful change in the weather and made for the general good of the meeting, since it precludes the possibility of drouth to keep down the attendance, which more than once has been the case here in September. The Kentucky State Racing Commission has approved J. 15. Campbell to be racing secretary at Douglas Park and Latonia, and Edward Jasper to be racing secretary at Churchill Downs. A rule doing away with auctions, in selling races in front of the stand and requiring sealed bids, was adopted. The bidding will be open to the 1U Attorney Webster Helm of Newport, was permitted to withdraw Tom Rrown s written con-Horsemen are expressing general satisfaction with the recent action "of the racing commission and peace and harmony once more prevails.
