1 THOROUGHBRED HORSE ASSOCIATION TEST. 1 Last Similar the following statement war, telegraphed from Lexington, K.v.: "At the semi-annual meeting of the Thoroughbred Horse Association in this city last night, that organization went on ord as "being opposed to a conflict of racing dates in New Orleans and president Hal Price lleadley was authorized to write II. D. Brown to that effect. This move will make it practically impossible for City Park to obtain horses in case of a date conflict with the Fair Grounds,- as nearly every horseman who campaigns through the winter months is member of the association." On that same last Sunday H. I. Brown, through New Orleans newspapers, announced his fixed intention to give a race meeting at the City Park track, to commence Thanksgiving day and continue to St. Patricks day in March, 1017. In pursuance of this determination. Daily Racing Form is advised from New Orleans that Brown has made the first payment on the City Park tract, been given a deed, formally taken possession and started a force men in preparing the plant for racing. Taken together the two statements create an interesting situation. Obviously, if Brown cannot secure horses his enterprise comes to nothing. norses and horse owners are the foundation without which there can be no racing. It is also obvious that the disciplinary control of the Thoroughbred Horse Association over its members may be put to a severe test. If President lleadley and his associates can secure unswerving and practically unanimous adherence of the horse-owning members of their or-anization, it is in their power to say whether the New Orleans Business Mens Association or II. D. Brown is to conduct a successful meeting New Orleans next winter.
