SANGALL0 IMPRESSES MANY SPECTATORS. Kicked While at the Post and Runs a Great Raco with a Fractured Knee. Baltimore, Md., September 39. While todays program at Havre le Grace was ordinary and attracted only the cheaper class of horses in the majority of the races, keen contests resulted in which well-backed horses were conspicuous. The lKst race of the day, an all-aged handicap at one mile and a sixteenth, resulted in a stirring contest between Eagle and Sungallo, with the former scoring in the last stride. Sangallos defeat was probably encompassed through being severely kicked on one of his knees by Malachite while at the post. The hor.se sustained a slight fracture from the accident, but set the pace for nearly the entire distance. Midway of the stretch, when Eagle moved up, Rutwell went to the whip on Sangalio and he responded in a manner which led spectators to believe he would last it out, but Eagle finished gamely and was up in time to get the verdict by a nose, with Malachite third. Sangallos race, considering the gelding being kicked, was considered remarkable by the horsemen. Woodtrap, showing some improvement over previous races was first iu the fifth race, which attracted several fair two-year-olds. Kilkenny took the first, over the well-backed Sky, and Water I.elle had an easy time in winning the second, after being confidently backed. The weather was quite cool this morning, but warmed up materially before nice time. Rain, which fell last night, had the effect of rendering the going somewhat slower than yesterday and next to the inner rail it was still muddy, but fair time was recorded. The attendance, while smaller than usual, was composed of a speeiilntively-inelined crowd and the niutuel machines were kept busy all afternoon. W. II. Mizell was an arrival this morning from Montreal and three horses belonging to him will arrive tomorrow. P. Sheridan is also due tomorrow with ten horses. Jockey L. McAtee arrived today and reported to trainer Al Weston for whom he will ride. Will Hall arrived from San Francisco and will spend the remainder of the fall season on Maryland tracks, after which he will depart for Tijuana. E. II. Shevilin has joined the forces of Capt. Duhaine here, having come down from Cauada. Sam Louis advanced Menlo Park from 1916.sh00 to 51,00ft after that horse won the sixth race, but she was protected bv owner James MacManus. John Sanford paid .,500 for Fairy Sprite, the dam or Kilkenny, winner of the first rare, when Kilkennv was in Itero. 11. D. Drown departed for New York tonight and, after spending a few days there, will return to New Orleans. He will make a brief visit to liurel during the latter part of next month.
