REJECT 0,000 OFFER FOR LUKE McLUKE. Louisville, Ky., September 19. John W. Schorr has decided to race no horses during the coming winter. He lias in his stable at present fifteen yearlings, six two-year-olds and one older horse. Two of those will be turned over to John F. Schorr for winter racing, and the rest of the string will spend the winter in the barn they at present occupy at Douglas Park. Mr. Schorr has just refused an offer of 0,000 for Luke McLuke, the winner of the Kentucky Handicap in 1014, and which is now in the stud at Keeneland Farm. Trainer .T. O. Keene owns an interest in Luke McLuke and, with Mr. Schorr as partner, owns also twenty-seven broodmares. Both he and Mr. Schorr decided it would be poor policy to sell Luke McLuke, if they retained the mares for breeding purposes, and so the person who made the offer for the son of Fltimus has been informed by Messrs. Schorr and Keene that they will sell Luke McLuke provided the buyer will also take the twenty-seven mares, at an aggregate price for stallion and mares of 00,000. The demand for Luke McLukes services by public breeders for the coming stud season is remarkable and, though his fee has been set at 00, there is every prospect that his book will be filled long before the first of the year. Messrs. Schorr and Keene bred most of their marcs to Luke McLuke this year, one exception being Woodbine, the dam of Harry Kelly, which is now in foal to Ultimus, the sire of that crack two-year-old.
