SOMEWHAT DULL DAY AT WOODBINE. Ringdove and Belle Mahonc Furnish an Exciting and CIoEely-Contestcd Finish A Note of Peace. Toronto, Out., September 29. The program at Woodbine Park this afternoon was made up of series of overnight purses, in which ordinary fields were entered. The races were run over a slow track and before a large gathering. Interesting contests developed, one of the best finishes of the afternoon coming with the running of the opening race, which was for Canadian-bred two-year-olds. Ringdove, closely pursed by Belle Mahone. led all the way and, in a driving finish, beat the Seagram filly by a scant half length. The pair raced like a team through the last quarter and the winner bumped P.elie Mahone several times, for which jockey Kohinsou was reprimanded. Col. William Hendrie came down from Camp Borden to attend a meeting of the directors of tlte Ontario Jockey Club and during the afternoon acted as one of the stewards. A. M. Orpen and his associates in the Kenil-worth and Dulferin Park tracks, conferred with committee appointed by the horsemen last night interview Mr. Omen. The result of the conference was that the Kenilworth and Dufferin Park people decided that the horsemen who may take part the Devonshire Park meeting could also participate in the racing at their tracks during the remainder of this year, and to let the matter remain over for a permanent settlement during the winter months. t a i s v i v il - II 11 f 1, - a u to o 0 e in 11 e r r j
