COLINS DAM AGAIN CHANGES HANDS. Lexington, Ky., October 10. The famous old mare 1 Pastorella, dam of Colin, changed ownership again i last week, when she became the property of R. T. Wilson, who nurchased her while in Lexington looking ! over his horses at Kirklevington Farm, along with the Voter mare Spin, from John E. Madden, of f Hamburg Place. Both mares are in foal to Hessian , and will be mated to Olambala next year. Pastorella, which, by the way, is now twenty-four, was brought to this country by the late Marcus Daly, and secured by James R. Keene at the dispersal sale of the Bitter Root Stud In 1901, for 0,000. She was then in foal to Hamburg, the resultant foal being the bay colt, Strephon. Pastorella remained in Mr. Keenes ownership until the dispersal of the Castleton Stud in September, 1913. She was purchased then by E. R. Bradley, of Idle Hour Stud, for ,000, it being doubtful whether or not she was in foal. This buy proved a fortunate one for Mr. Bradley, because the next spring Pastorella foaled a colt by Voter, and shortly afterward he sold the mare and foal to Mr. Madden for a price greatly in excess of what he paid for her. Should Mr. Wilson be fortunate enough to secure a foal from Pastorella by Olambala, the breeding will be on similar lines to that of his great colt Campfire, whose dam, Nightfall, is out of the Springfield mare Sundown, while Tastorella is of course by Springfield.
