ORMEAD, never far from the pace, caught NORTHAVOOD tiring right at the end and was going away at the finish. NORTHAVOOD raced M. J. SHANNON into submission and only faltered in the last sixteenth. DIXON PARK dropped back badly the second turn of the field, but was coming again at the end. M. J. SHANNON was raced to excess front and quit badly. FALMOUTH, rated in front under restraint all the way, fenced faultlessly and readily withstood the final challenge of CHERRY MALOTTE. The latter was well handled and had no excuse. ORMES HEAD was put on the fence and crowded back in the first quarter, went around the others and looked like the winner until he hit the backfield Liverpool. RACONTEUSE showed early speed, but refused in the front field and followed the others home. BROOKS fell at the first fence and BRYN CHANT and MARCHENA went down in the backfield. THE DECISION swung wide in the stretch, but was coming again at the end. TORERO and SIMON JONES quit badly.
