KATHLEEN YICTRESS AGAIN DEFEATS HANK ODAY AND OTHER SPEEDY SPRINTERS WITH EASE. Clark M. Left at the Post Through Accident Solveig Changes Owners After Winning W. H. Baker Selling Several of His Horses. Cincinnati, O., October 27. There was nothing particularly brilliant about todays offering at La-tonia for with, the exception of the three -quarters sprint, the starters wen: of mediocre class. Kathleen, carrying 121 pounds, was returned the winner in the feature race, with Hank ODay and .1. .7. Murdoch following. The race was marred to some extent by the failure of Chalmers to get away with the others. His being virtually left Avas due, according to starter Morrissey and jockey Andress, to Chalmers effort to savage Kathleen just as the word to start was given. Clark M. was another to cause the public loss by failure to leave the post. His being left was due to getting caught in the barrier. Miss Declare, starting for the first time in a long while, barely missed defeat by Running Queen. The program book for the first seven days of racing at the Havana track was distributed to horsemen this afternoon. The racing is scheduled to open December i for a period of eighty-three days. The same staff of officials as that of last season will serve. The mutuel and bookmaking style of wagering will again be in use. H. D. Drown, general manager of the track, will arrive here Sunday night from New Orleans to confer witli Frank .7. Rruen. James T. McDermott, representing the Fourth District in Illinois in Congress, was among this afternoons visitors. Solveig was bid up from 00 to ,400 and bought by J. M. Henry, Jr., after her victory in the second race. She will be coupled witli Geo. C. Ixive tomorrow. W. H. linker, who will winter his horses in these parts, intends to cut down his establishment considerably and, witli this in view, disposed at private terms this morning of the racers Amazon and Margaret N. to Mrs. F. E. Drown, Itoscoo Goose to G. Arvin, and Ella Ryan and Plunger to .7. W. Fort-man. Daker intends to sell others of his stable if lt can secure their value. J. S. Ward made an addition to his string of the yearling chestnut filly by Marathon Ethel Carr. Franklin, Derlin, Xorvic and the others in the "Ward stable were shipped this morning to Douglas Park, Louisville, where they will be wintered. F. Stnton sold at private terms to D. .7. Brannon, the horse. Stout Heart. This racer and the others in the Drannon string will be sent to New Orleans for the racing there. John W. Schorr bought today from II. Oots the promising English-bred Butterscotch II. and will ship him witli others to Douglas Park, where they will be wintered. Seven carloads of miscellaneously owned racers will be shipped from here Monday to Tijuana for the racing there. Secretary Ed Jasper will leave for the Tijuana track next Sunday. Several owners Avill ship next Sunday to Pimlico for the racing at that track and later to liowie. Jockey A. Claver is reported seriously ill at liis home in Chicago. Jockey II. Jeffcott has been engaged to ride for Mose Goldblatt next winter. Manager Hachmeister is planning extensively for the closing day and indications point to a new-record attendance to see the decision of the two and a quarter mile Latonia Cup race and the incidents attending the close of the Kentucky racing season. Delegations, are expected from Louisville, Lexington and nearby cities in Ohio. Solveig, winner of the second race, was bid up to ,400 and secured by .7. M. Henry. L. Denny, 50.
