HOWARD OOTS LATEST IMPORTATIONS. Lexington, Ky., December 10. The English yearlings purchased at the Doncaster September sales by Howard Oots have been at the Kentucky Association track here for more than two months now and have grown into a band of more than ordinarily good looking individuals. They are so much better looking than were the members of his first importation, that of last year, that it is a matter of comment among the trainers in the local colony and visitors who saw those brought over in 1915. The bay colt by Cylgad Byeway is the highest-priced one of the collection, that is to say he cost his owner more at the sale ring, and while he is a compactly made animal, as certain to win as he starts, he is not. in the writers humble opinion, the pick of the band. That honor belongs to the bay colt by Llangwm Amarosa, a daughter of Love Wisely. He is a stoutly made, deeprchested, straight-limbed, business-like horse with a highly attractive appearance. A filly built much like this colt is by Ainadis Polite Dame, and they are a pair with which, as starter Harry Morrissey remarked the other day, when he was looking them over with Robert Walden and James Fitzsimmons, n good man would be certain to make money. The chestnut colt by Marco Permia is big and attractive. A couple of toppy individuals are by Holliday House, one being out of Lapis and the other out of Pampinella. Impartiality is the name of a good looking chestnut colt by Kings Proetor Heroines Dream. Clonakilty is the cognomen of a racy-looking bay filly by Catmint Catamount. To the casual observer who happens to know what these youngsters cost thcor owner in England it is quite clear that, whether he races them or puts them on the market before racing time, Mr. Oots is sure to have a profit out of them commensurate with the risk he took in crossing the Atlantic for them and with them. The demand for thoroughbreds was never greater in this country than it is right now and the importers are all feeling quite comfortable over their prospects. Should there be an early ending of the European war, the horses brought over last year and this year, would immediately double in value.
