W. S. KILMERS RECENT PURCHASES. New York, December 10. A cablegram received in Binghampton announces the purchase by Mr. Willis Sharpe Kilmer of several of the most noted thoroughbreds on the English turf. From the executors of the late Sir Maurice Fitzgerald, Bart. C. . O. Knight of Kerry, owner of the Buckland Stud, Berks, Mr. Kilmer has obtained this good trio at the Newmarket: Brownie, a bay mare, foaled in 190S, by Gallinule out of Elf a winner and dam of winners, by Galopin out of Queen of the Meadows a winner and dam, amongst others, of Tyrant, winner of the Doncaster and Chester cups. Ascot Gold Vase, etc., by Exminster by Newminster out of Queen of the May a winner of nine races and dam of many winners, by king of Trumps out of Lady Hawthorn, by Windhound out of Alice Hawthorn, by Muley Moloch; covered by Marcovil and believed to be in foal. Brownie is of the famous No. 4 family. Her yearling, by William the Third, was sold last July for ,300. St. Fey, a black filly two years old, by St. Frusnuin out of Brownie. St. Fey was not trained owing to the war. Misty Law 1909. a bay mare winner of the Hardwicke Stakes of 500 sovereigns and two other races, by Aryshire out of Ben Doran dam of -winners, by Bend Or out of Vaurienne a good winner and dam of The Warrior and many other -winners, by Galopin out of Palisade dam of Golden Gate, Palisandra, etc., by Albert Victor out of Obelisk dam of winners, by Cathedral out of Vlie, by Zuyder Zee; covered by Kings Proctor and believed to be in foal. Misty Law is of the celebrated No. 14 family. Kings Proctor is by Persimmon out of Decree Nisi, by Wisdom. From the Earl of Ellesmere Mr. Kilmer has bought Sabretache, a bay mare foaled in 1911 by the famous Martagon out of Sabrinetta, by Kilwarlin out of Sabra, by St. Simon out of Belinda, by Hampton out of Belle of Bury, by Caterer. Sabretache is in foal by John oGaunt and was regarded as the choicest mare of the Earl of EHesmcres celebrated stud near Newmarket. From an English gentleman, whose name is not made known, Mr. Kilmer has purchased Glenfernate, a bay mare foaled in 1912, by Tredennis Straloch, by Rock Sand Stolen Love a winner and dam of winners of 5,000, including Wrinkler, Screnader and Nassau out of True Love dam of many winners, by Sterling. Glenfernate is of the famous No. 3 family and was several times a winner as a two-year-old. She is in foal by Balscadden. Mr. Kilmer also became the owner of a bay yearling by Bachelors Double Lady Edgar, by Sir Edgar Moyvaliey, by Blitz, out of Portion, by Beaufort. This filly was foaled May 19. Lady Edgar was the best two-year-old of her year in Ireland, winning among other races the Phoenix Plate of 1,500 sovereigns, at Phoenix Park. Moyvaliey is the dam of numerous winners, and her yearling filly by Bachelors Double, was sold in September for 1,600 guineas. Bachelors Double is by Tredennis Lady Bawn. This filly, which was the property of Mrs. Moloney, an English lady renowned for her thoroughbred winners, was entered for some of the biggest English stakes of 1917. Mr. Kilmer also lias purchased Marienworth, Love-light and Sobranje. Although Harry McDaniel, Mr. Kilmers trainer, represented Mr. Kilmer in the buying of these horses, Mr. Kilmer personally selected them. Mr. Kilmer lias directed that his new thoroughbreds be brought to America at the earliest favorable opportunity. The present plan is to bring these horses directly to Binghampton and to winter them at the Kilmer Stock Farm on Riverside drive, where Mr. Kilmer already has half a hundred of good thoroughbred stock, including horses in training, stallions, broodmares and foals, yearlings and weanlings.
