LIBERAL POLICY TO BE CONTINUED. Latonia to Offer as Much Money in Stakes as Other Kentucky Tracks. Cincinnati. O., December 15. "Latonia will continue its liberal policy in the matter of added money to its stakes run next year," said Harvey Myers, president of the Latonia Jockey Club, yesterday. "I expect Mr. Ilachmeister to be here the latter part of the week, when a meeting of the directors will be called and the question of stakes for next season considered. Whether the value of the Derby, to which 10,000 was added in 1915 and 1910, will be increased, in view of the ,000 increase of the Kentucky Derby, I cannot say. However, the board .is inclined to offer as much money, proportionately, as any other track in the state." Last season Latonia added more than 0,000 to its stakes. Nine stake events were run during the spring meeting and four during the fall. The Derby was worth 2,450, of which the winner received ,950. The Kentucky Derby was worth 2,750 and the winner received ,750. Next year the Louisville Jockey Club intends to increase the added value of the Kentucky Derby to 5,000. The Latonia books show that S3,055 was offered in stakes and purses during the forty-three days racing in 1910, which is a new record.
