RECORD OF THE MUCH RACED NAPIER. When the seven-year-old gelding Napier, which was kicked while at the post in the fourth race at Havana, Thursday and after running a half mile was pulled up with a broken leg, and immediately afterwards destroyed, it ended the activities of a thoroughbred that had enjoyed little respite during the six seasons in which he raced. Starting in 1911, the only year that Napier was not raced much, the gelding has been seen in action on the tracks of Canada. Cuba anil this country, taking part in 241 contests, of which the present season was his busiest, the race of Thursday being the fifty-seventh start of the year. Napier was started in thirty races in 1912, forty-two in 1913, forty-nine in 1914 and fifty-six in 191.1, but never won more than five in any one year. Twenty victories netting ,S50 resulted in Napiers participation in 241 races before death came to give the gelding a well-deserved rest.
