LEADING SIRES OF JUMPERS IN GERMANY. The Epsom Derby winner. Ard Patrick, stood second last year in Cermany as a sire of junipers with a total of 4.2!0 aovereigae. The leading sire of jumpers last year was Baphir, and he again occupies first place with a total of over li.000 sever :uiis. Third in the list is the well-known sire, Calveley. which for years past has cat a big figure over fences and hurdles by aid of his get. and they have now credited him with M.S02 sovereigns. CaUeley was brad by the late Duke of Westminster in 1K95. by St. Serf Bnndtway, and he won a number of races before bi hag bought at the sale of his griii l horses by tie- late Sir John Thursby, who gave 7. an 1 guineas for him 011 the same day that M. Klmoi.d Blanc lid the record price of 37.500 guineas for Flying Fox. The sab in question took place at Kiagaclere in March, lOOO. and the amount paid for Flying lo still holds tne auction record. Rather curiously , the Eaton Stud yearlings provided another standing record whin they cni.ie up for sale in the First July week. Mr. R. Blevkw giving 10. 000 guineas for Bceptrc, and she showed herself well worth the money, winning the Oaks St. Lager and other re ces.
