+ 1 + WHAT SPEEDY TOP 0 TH MORNING AND HIS STABLE MATES DID FOR P. POWERS LAST YEAR * j + In the Peep oDay gelding. Top o th Morning. P. Powers raced one of the fastest sprinters of 1916. There were a few which could outpace him. but had to be quite busy while doing it. His victory at Laurel. October 5, when, carrying 140 pounds, lie won at throe-eeuarters in 1:12%, is a fair example of what he is capable of when at his best. A horse of his speed and ability to carry big weight should have further triumphs awaiting him. The filly. Outlook, now racing indifferently at Havana, was quite a good racer at one time last year and won more than usefully for Mr. Powers. All of the other horses racing in his name won at least one race for him except the- two-year-old Mary Lydia. which may be no reproach to her since she was only started one. The stable earnings for the year were: Horse. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Won.
