H. C. APPLEGATE GOES TO NEW ORLEANS. Secretary of Churchill Downs Goes on Missionary-Work — Two Hundred Horses at Louisville. Louisville. Ky.. January 21. — H. C. Applegate. sre rotary of the- Louisville- Jockey Club, left Saturday night for Now Orleans, where he will do missionary work esseag the horsemen in the interest of the stakes at the Downs this spring. About two hundred horses are at Chure-hill Downs now, among them being the stables of Corrigan and MeKinniy. John E. Maelden. the BeverwycU Stable-. George J. Long. P. A. Clark of New York, the Kejetope Stable-. Middle-ton and Jones and Frank J. Kelly. There are eight or te-n Kiiitucky Derby prospects at the Downs now. James Corrigan and his bride have spent the past several days at his bungalow at Churchill, and while there Mrs. Corrigan selected the names for their two-year-olds.
