Ky.. January 22. — Close to 200 horses are quartered at the Churchill Downs course and almost as many are housed at Douglas Bark. Trainers soon will begin to condition the horses in preparation for the Kentucky racing, and local railhirds will be afforded an opportunity to see in action many stars of the coming season. Among the stables at the Downs are t.iose of Corrigan and McKinney. J. E. .Madden. Beverwyck Stable. George J. Long. I*. A. Clark of New York; Keystone Stable, Middle-ton and Jones and Frank J. Kell-y. James Corrigan and his bride spent several days at the Corrigan and McKinney bungalow at Churchill Downs recently, and while there Mrs. Corrigan selected names for the stables grand collection of two-yi ar-olds. Turfmen here look forw; rd with much interest to the return next spring of the A. K. Maconiber string from Charleston. S. . In this stable ar ■ the richly bred English thoroughbreds recently brought to this country, including the Kentucky Derby candidate. North Star. The Maconiber string also will include a number of leading candidates for the Kentucky Handicap in such performers as Hoots, star 11 auk. Dodge and Ed Crump. The juveniles Maconiber purchased of J. B. W. B. Finnegan. foreman for Kay Spence. has COBM to Louisville to take up ten horses, now quar tered at T. M. Murphys farm at Crestwood. Among these are Hodge. High Gear. Wilhite. Money Maker. Red Cloud and others. Hodge has wintered well and is in grand condition to start preparation for the spring season, as is High Oear. Spcnces Derby candidate. Finnegan will fit them for the coming racing. He is a most capable trainer and under his care the ■peace string should be ready for a strenuous campaign, when the barrier goes ui .
