N-ah-ii has d.-cided lot tei introduce the- promised measure that woubl legalise horse racing under tin- pari-mutuel system in this state. While Senator Nealon has not given official confirmation of this statement, it is known he has been advised that the bill weiu.d go to defeat if it was introduced. expressions of opposition to the measure have be e-n ;;ieii by legislators, who have been sounded out on tin- bill, as well as bx their constituents in tie- state. This note- has been sufficiently strong. is said, to persuade the author of the bill to Iit restore the "sport of kiiiLs" to California that this is not the time to attempt to put it through.
