4. 4. I BUSY RACERS OF LAST YEAR WHICH WERE STARTED LN MANY RACES WITH MODERATE RESULTS l + + Lacing is anything but sport to some unlucky horses. To them it is hard work often recuning. Some of these toilers of the track are not at all excitable and turn out to do a race with as much equanimity as they would tackle their hay and oats. To others of a different temperament it is hateful and dreaded, because each race means another painful laceration from whip and spur. Last year Endurance hail more of such trials than any other horse and. since he only w n twice in sixty-six attempts, must have had to endure a frightful total of punishment. Some of these frequently started horses are decidedly useful and such as Kootenay. Harry Lauder, .,uick. John Graham and Juliet won aggregates which would have been viewed with favor in the return of any stable. Noble Grands record of one race wmi in fifty-eight stands by itself as a story of futile endeavor. The horses" which ran in forty-nine or more races last year were the following: Horse. Age.
