JERRY POPULAR WITH HAVANA OWNERS. His Victory Yesterday Results in Another Change of Ownership — Arrivals from New Orleans. Havana. Cuba. January 30. — The greatly improved plater. Jerry. again changed hands after his victory in the fifth race at Oriental Park this afternoon. It was a dash at a mile and Jerry won with coiiiparaCve ease after following the pacemaker to the stretch. Jerry was entered for 81,100 and E. K. Bryaoa obtained him on a bid of ,300. Old Drury. Lucille P.. and Luke Van Zandt were first time wi rs at the meeting. They wen respectively, the first, second and fourth races. Ball, who rode Zodiac in the fourth race, took the favorite the "overland route" and the odds-cm choice could do not better than finish second to Luke Van Zandt after the latter had easilv passed both him and Eddie Mott. the early pacemaker, on the turn into the homestretch. Zodiac, however, appeared decidedly lame goiag to tin- post. In this race Loehiel propped at the barrier rise ami got away poorly. There were several arrivals from New Orleans. Among them was J. J. McCafferty. who brought over Pay oLight. Reno and Oakwood Row John A. Mellinger of BulTalo and L. B. Appleton of New York, also came over from the Crescent City. They reiH.rt that a number of professional followers will he here shortly. Walter Rrady and S. Hoffman of Detroit were also new arrivals. Jockey R Wingfi-ld carried off the riding honors of the day with two victories on Old Drury in the first and Jerry in the fifth. Aft.r R. M. Small lost Jerry he retaliated by claimiug Sevillian for ,400.
