MUDDY TRACK RACING AT HAVANA.. Shooting Star Defeats Jerry in the Main Race of the Day — Sureget Wins. Havana. Cuba. February !. — Shooting Star. I. M. Hedricks four-ye-ar-old gelding by Star Shoot — Ronnie Rlue II.. showed a good form this afternoon in the feature race at Oriental 1ark by easily defeating a band that included the recent good performer Jerry. Thesieres. Wenonah and Se-rilliaa. The race was at a mile and fifty yards. Shooting Star was take-n richt to the front by Bray and led throughout, while Sevillian, Wenonaii and finally Jerry, took turns unsuccessfully in an effort to catch him. finally winning by a length with speed in reserve. Supreme and Jesse Jr.. nearly equal favorites for the- el-sing race, at a mile and a sixteenth, put up one of the best finishes of the meeting, the first Banted ge-tting the verdict by a nose after leading throughout. The rest of the field were eight le-ngths behind the leading pair. Senor Lezamas Ioughkeepsie scored another victory, when he beat a fair band of three-year-olds in the third race, for which he was a well hacked favorite. Sargon II. slipped and went down he-hinel just as the barrier was sprung and this put him out of the struggle. K«-atlier Duster and Sure-get were first-time win-ne-rs at the meeting. They won the first and fourth races. The races we;;- run over a slow track that was a hit sticky on the- inside, but in fair condition in the middle and on the outside-. T. H. Wilson claimed Lord Byron from I. M. Heelrick after the- latter was beaten Sunday, and R. M. Small claimed F.ner Bey from W. Hinphy. The colt Ze-b Benton was an arrival from New Orleans this morning.
