CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Paddock Judge J. L. Hall is back in New York from Juarez. Joseph K. Davies. whose horses are at Aiken, S. .. is looking for a first-class jockey for 1917. Francis Stevens, well known from his long connection with a thoroughbred sales company, is seriously ill at his New York home. An evidence of the liberality of A. K. Maeomber is to lie found in the fact that he has stipulated that the stable and cottages which he is having instructed at Belmont Park shall, at the end of five years, become tiie ssssyerxy of the Westchester Pacing Association. Jules Garson. who recently returned from New Orleans, has become an enthusiastic supporter of the Thoroughbred Horsemens Association. He says the selling race regulations now in force at tin reseeiit City track ate satisfactory in every way. and that the Thoroughbred Horsemens Association is 1 sponsible for the conditions. The Kentucky State Pacing Commission has not indicated its preference in the matter of a successor to the late W. H. Laudeiiuin in the position of supervisor of pari-mutuel betting on the Kentucky tracks and it seems that none of them are pledged to any man. but judging frcu the manner in which horsemen, breeders, trainers and racing derate a generally are expressing themselves. John B. McLaughlin of Lexington will lie strongly recommended for the position at the next meeting of I the commission.
