+ — ■ i 4- STATISTICS OF WINNING OWNERS, HORSES AND JOCKEYS AT NEW ORLEANS GREATEST MEETING 4, _ _ When the third annual meeting of the Business j Mens Racing Association opened at the Fair Grounds on New Years Day. predictions were made that it would far surpass the two previous meetings. Not only were those- predictions fulfilled, but it is now claimed that the meeting Which closed Tuesday, was the greatest ever held in New Orleans. That, elespite the most adverse weather conditions ever remembered in the Crescent City. Party four days of racing were given, beginning on January 1 and continuing to and incluiling Tuesday, February 30, during which time 288 races were derided and 81SS.410 was distributeel in stakes ami purses, making a daily average- of ,282.05. Jefferson Livingston has every reason to feel satisfied with the showing made by the horses racing under his colors at the Fair Grounds, the net earnings of the stable- reaching the sum of 817,786, representing seventeen winning races, thirteen se-c-onels and tea thirds. That this sum would have been greatly enhanced if the weather and track condition* had been more propitious so as to permit more of his big stable to get into action, there appear* little doubt. II. Q. Bedwell garnered a goodly share- of the parses, his representatives winning 13,870. J. M. Beaker, E. T. Colton. T. Clyde., w. P. Johnson. ;. Knebelkamp, J. Lowe were others who did well.
