R0WE TALKS OF THE WHITNEY HORSES. Expects Pennant to Race Again This Year — Four in the Kentucky Derby. New York. February 81. — James Earn, who has charge of the H. P. Whitney hers. s. at Broohdale, was a visitor at tl: ! Jockey Club offices today. He reports every horse in his eatabUshaa at in good health. "I have twenty-nine at Broohdale. said Mr. Rov.e. "and Albert Simons has eighteen in Washington. Of course we cannot tell anything about the young horses, but I have a ■— III I of good lookers." Speaking of his entries in tin- Kentucky Derby, Mr. Rowe said he had nominated four horses, but slated it was too early to determine which would be sent there. "I might send all four." he intimated, "and again I might not have a starter. All dep-nds upon their condition a few days prior to the race. I think Pennant will race again this year. He looks good and sound, but no one can tell when his old trouble will come back on him again. It may never conic back. His last ailment was brought on by stepping in a hole or straining himself in his last race, but he seems to have gotten over it." Mr. Rowe spoke as if he is well satisfied with his string of horses for the year. Another visitor at the Jockey Club office was Capt. F.. B. I assatt. He has nine horses in training, six of them two year olds. One in particular, a half-brother to Trial by Jury, is much admired by both Captain Cassatt and his trainer. Simon Healy.
