QUITE HEADY FOR ACTION ENOUGH HORSES ALREADY AT HOT SPRINGS TO SUFFICE FOR THE MEETING. Rain Yesterday Brings a Muddy Track — Schooling to Begin Monday — New Stalls Finished and Filled — List of Stables Present. Hot Springs. Ark.. March 1. — Despite the lack of C n for transportation, difficulties have lieen largely overcoiae sad enough horses are now here to meet all the reqairesseats of a good meeting. Of course these will be largely increased numerically, by diligent use of such means as are available. For instance, a train of seven horse-cars, bringing a big band of horses from New Orleans, was quickly on its way back to the Crescent City, to bring another similar detachment. There is no doubt that more race horses will be here by next week, than ever before were gathered on an Arkansas race track. An all-night rain turned the going to muddy it Oaklawn Park today and there were not many horses out for work outs. Trainers confined their aeration chiefly to walking their charges under the sheds, in the hope that the course would dry nit rapidly enough for trials in the afternoon, but .m itber rain upset their plaas. Many got in from New Orleans this morning and the morning train from New York also carried its share. Several carloads of horses arrived from the Fair Grounds late today. The racers have lieen moved rapidly since last Monday from New Orleans, and there are not many more to come from that place now. Assistant starter Jim Osborne came in from New-Orleans today. He will begin the schooling of horses it Oaklawn Park on Sunday. Jockey Oeorge Molesworth will accompany the J. C, Ferris cesarigasaeat of horses which arrives from JTaam Sunday. Fifty New Stalls Erected. The fifty aew si alls which were built because of the overflow of horses in the regular stables nt Oaklawn Park, were completed last night and all were filled at an c ally hour this morning. Jockeys O. Scherr -r anil F. Hopkins arrived from Tijuana, where they were riding all white r. The apprentice allowance will be granted to nil ip| nntie-e riders at the Oaklawn Iark mieting in selling races. There will lie no conditions attached to their getting it. as was the ease at New Orleaas. Tlicre is an o c-rahuuduiicc of npprcnt ice rielers here, the best of them on form being W. Crump. All the big hotels hen are- packed and they ami the rooming houses are receiving big prices for their accommodations. There are mai.y new restaurants la tewa, most of which were formerly saloons. Other- ill that line have been turned into ice cream parlors and soda water establishments. Alcoholic drinks are not to lie had here.
