WILL REVIVE CRESCENT CITY DERBY. With at Least 0,000 Added Plan of Now Orleans Business Mens Racing Association. New Orleans. La.. March 1.— A Crescent City Derby of an added value of at least .0,000. and probably 0,000, with stakes of ,300 each twice a week, and no race during the entire thirty -six lay* with a pane less than SS00. is the tentative plan of the business Mens Racing Association for next year at the Fair Grounds. The directors have not put their final approval on the plans, but it is a moral certainty they will. Supervisor I. I!. Hennyson announced yesterday that he was sure that the big purses would be offered, as it is the intention of the association to attract the best horses that race here next year. The Bote! Mens Handicap may not be run next year hecaase of lack of co-operation by th hotel men this year. None of them subscribed to the stake, and since the association had advertised. they felt in duty bound to run it. However, it may be superseded next year by another race, with perhaps an added value as large, if not larger Thoughts of running a Business Mens Handicap are in the making, with ,001 as the added money. Mr. Hennyson has lieen approached with a plan to cover the track with tarpaulins during the race meeting for fourteen days before. The directors will consider this seriously, since the wet weather of the past season kept such good horses as Chalmers. Rancher and the like in their stables. Mr. Ronnyson said all that the association would lost if they lost anything would be the first cost of the anvas. Lscal sportsmen think the plan will be given a trial. A. Konprich today tried to deny that he and his associates Dominick Tortorich. Leo A. Marrero and others intend to erect a nn track in Jefferson parish. He says they lmught the tract of land to keep northerners from buying it and building a race track, but says further no race track is intended. However, it is certain a race track and prize fight arena will be erected. That is what everybody that is being sold stink are told.
