NORTH STAR III. REPORTED SLIGHTLY LAME. Charleston. S. C. March 15.— Last Sunday, after being worked the reverse way of the track by trainer Jennings, the English -bred Kentucky Derby candidate North Star III. pulled up lame. It has been Jennings practice to work the Macomber horses the reverse way on Sundays in order to educate ™ them for racing over the Beliiuuit Park track. The injury is not thought to be serious. Star Hawk. Boots. Podge. Kd Crump and Hank Orfciy are taking healthy exercise. Their work has not been fast, halves and three-quarters at about a two minute gait, being about the rule so far. Mr. John Sanford is here for a week or so and can be seen at the track each morning with his trainers Preston Burch and OUie Hughes. Mr. Sanford intends to have two divisions of his stable this year, each of these trainers managing one. It is not thought any horses will be sent to Bowie from here, unless Kd Trotter concludes to go. His horses are widl enough advanced to work a half in 50. equivalent to 49 .lee where.
