YOUNG THOROUGHBREDS IN CALIFORNIA. Big Band Given Public Trials at Pleasanton — Mixed Racing Circuit Arranged. San Francisco. Cal.. March 30. — Memories of the days gone by when California figured prominently as tin- home of great and many race horses were revived one day this week, when a crowd gathered at the Pleaaaatea race truck to witness the tryouts of tin- last of the Lawrence and Comstock two-year-olds. Twenty -seven of the young thoroughbreds, in charge of George Kyun. won- pat through their puces against the watch and it was made the occasion to name the runners that may win fame and fortune on the turf. He is esneeially pleased with the form of Sunhonnot, a candidate for the Kentucky Oaks. and he likes the chances of North Star III. for the Derby. Macomber is thinking seriously of sending some of his horses out to Kurlinganie and establishing a stock farm.
