VACANCY IN THE CANADIAN CIRCUIT. T-ronto. Out.. March 31. — As well as filling the position of steward to represent the Canadian Lacing Associations at the meeting en the major circuit thi- year, another position will also have to be filled. Jcnrgc Cornell, w ho was appointed patrol judge by the Canadian iiaeing Associations a year ago. has returned to bis previous wariness, that of training h ir es. Ha Las accept d the position of trainer for the string of thoroughbreds owned by i,i a/o Beardmote, M. F. H., at Toronto. This, with the retirement of Joseph A. Murphy, as steward, leaves two vacancies on the board of officials chosin annually by the Canadian Baring Associations, and will mean a general shifting around of officials to fill the vacancies. The appointments will not be made until later in the spring, although it i not practically an assured fact that Francis Nelson, who was presiding judge last year, will replace Joseph Murphy and Frank Elmore. a former sporting editor on a Toronto paper, will replace Cornell.
