MAIS0NNEUVE RACING SET FOR MAY. Management Consolidated with William Murray in Control — Martin Nathanson to Preside. Montreal, Que., March 31. — That the Maisonneuve race track will lie opened this year under new ownership was assured today, when it was teamed that William Murray had assumed full control. He has purchased the holdings of his former partner. A. N. Joucas. and will make extensive improvements to the plant for this year. Murray will retain the position of managing director and will have associated with him several well known local sportsmen. The grandstand at the east end of the track will be moved back forty feet, which will give ■ space between the stand and the track nearly sixty feet in width and four hundred in length. The mutuels system of betting will be installed for the opening meeting. It is likely that the same system used at Kowie will be adopted. Manager Murray leaves tonight for Kowie to look over the system being used there and should it meet his approval, ho will install it. Murray an nounced that he would open the racing season in Montreal, claiming the dates from Saturday. May 19 to Saturday. May 2«. Martin Nathanson will lie the racing secretary and presiding steward.
