CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The fourteen stakes, for the two Metropolitan Jockey lub meetings at Jamaica will close April S. Early Wright is arranging to race the horses belonging to the Nevada Stock Farm on the Maryland tracks. Monday night. Hatch 20. at James Rutlers F.ast View Stud, tin brown mare Little Queen, by Voter — Tsarina, foaled a bay colt, sired by Out of Reach. Hal August has bought Al Pierce, paying 8328 for the son of Dick Welles. Louis Upper has been sold to K. Chapman for 00. Michael Kurns has bought Pollyaana. b. f. 3. by Transvaal Lady Levity, and Sena Day, b. f, 2, by 1eep oDay Sena Lamplighter. The harrows are working over the Jamaica track and it will be in fine condition next week for the Sanford horses and others which plan to make it a training field. Rerrilldon, winner of the Lincolnshire Handicap in England in 1913. and owned by E. A. Rtirke. has been placed in the stud at W. Garths farm in Albcmaile County, Virginia. In England last year the total number of horses that competed in races was 2.303. In 1913. the year preceding the war. there were MBS, that number being the record for the old country. Sand Marsh, winner of the laumonok Handicap and the F.xcelsior Handicap, is training nicely and may be ready for the opening feature again this year. Edward A. Rurke is schooling Old Salt and Light Arms hot the jumps at Penning. He values Light Arms highly and is said to have refused attractive offers for him. Charlie Crew, the Toronto horseman, has seven horses in his string this spring, one of which is Oriana. a Kings Plater. the others are Corn-broom, Nellie C, Eddie P... Miss Oayle, Pepper Sauce and old Pop. He has not a two-year-old in his stable. It is the intention of Crew to make jumpers out of Pepper Sauce and Old Pop this year.
