LATONIA S SPRING STAKES FOR FILLIES. Fine Array of Nominations to the Long-Established S Clipsetta Stakes. Ry John Haehmeister. Cincinnati. O., March 31. — One of the early two-year-old stakes for fillies is the Clipsetta. which , is usually run during the second week of the , I.atoni.i spring meeting. The distance is five-eighths of a mile, which is a supreme test for the feminine sex at that time of the year. Seventy-six richly-bred fillies have been nominated to tin- 1 event. It usually brings out a field of from ten . to eight nnd is one of the attractive features of , the spring season. It is one of the few staki s en the Kentucky circuit this season which is practically for Americnn-breds alone. Only six out of the seventy -six nominated were bred abroad. Corrigan and Mckinney were the heaviest nominators to the event, the Cleveland racing firm putting in seven of their Kingston Farm-bred juveniles. The WicklifTe Stables entries .ire appropriately 11 mod. For instance, the Disguise — Searchlight filly is named Dark I-nntern. the Delhi Costume fillv is named Hindu Dress, while the Delhi -Home Bate filly is called The Wife. Mr. Corrigan was recently married and his bride was given the privilege of naming the two year-olds in their stable. That she applied some time and thought to the subject is unite evident.
