CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. At the Blue Ribbon sale in Toronto the thoroughbred sire Ailes dOr, aged, by Melton — Coldeu Wings, brought only .S40. He has stood for many years at the Thorneliffe Farm, but his progeny neer amounted to a great deal. Thomas Hitchcocks baud of jumpers, which will be shipped from Aiken to Montreal next week, will include several sons of Yankee that were foaled in France, all of which seem to have taken to crosscountry work in a way that may make this sire famous as a producer of jumpers. Heau Broadway will be the mainstay of the Harry-La Montague string this year. This horse broke down a year ago last fall, but a long rest seems to have mended the ailments, and at Aiken where lie wintered lie has hail considerable steady work without an indication of a return of the old troubles. Raymond Belmont will be on the list of gentlemen riders this year. He will have several from the stable of his father to ride. While most of his victories have been earned on the flat, he is a skillful hand across country and it may be that he will be seen in some of the steeplechase events arranged for hunters, which will as usual be provided at nil the Hunt meetings. A. P. Humphrey, Jr., of Tpperville. Va., has several imported jumpers in his barn that he purchased iu England and Ireland Inst fall. He made the trip abroad solely for the jmrpose of finding something that he himself could ride in steeplechases. Some of the band will be raced at Havre de Qraea and Pimlico, while a division will be sent on for the Hunt meetings at Hewlett, Belmont Park Terminal and Piping Rock. «
