HILDRETH HAD FAITH IN DRASTIC. New York, June 27. — -Many trainers were of opinion that S. C. Ilildrcth had thrown away the "Hudson" when he scratched Lucullite and left only Drastic to carry the Itrlnicnt colors in the race; but Ilildrcth did not appear particularly concerned and his many friends concluded that he had preferred to lose the race for the stable than to have Lucullite incur the additional penalty which its winning would involve. When Drastic was seen coining like a veritable whirlwind in the last eighth, it was realized that Hildreth had known all along what a really good colt he had in th handsome and sturdy looking son of Hastings--Dragnet. As a matter of fa.-t. Drastic baa been extremely well thought of by the stable ever since midwinter.
