BAYARDO S REMARKABLE NIMBLENESS. Apropos, Mr. Fairle has sustained a bad loss indeed by the early death of Bayardo, which was just coming to his best as a stallion. We have seen few, if any, better horses than Bayardo. I do not think the Ascot Cup was ever won in quite such smashing style. Then, too, his absolute brilliancy in getting out of difficulties and dashing to the front in about two strides has never been equalled, in my experience, Maher, could handle him like a polo pony; and he never used to get unbalanced in any emergency of being crossed or shut in. Bayardo did well, however, to live practically to the end of this season, so that there will be foals by him next year. Mr. Luscombe had worse luck with Marcovil, which died at the beginning of. the season.. London Sportsman.
