STEEPLECHASING AT LAUREL FALL MEETING. At the fall meeting of the Maryland State Fair, to be held at Laurel in October, steeplechasers of the first-class are provided for in the Royal Blue and Chevy Chase Steeplechase Handicaps, at two miles and two miles arid a half respectively. These races will have an added money value of ,500 each. Laurel will this year, as in the past, have to compete with the popular autumn hunt meeting about New York and Philadelphia, and a special bid will lie made, for the best chasers by a liberal distribution of money in overnight purses. The Royal Blue Steeplechase is a Laurel creation named for the fastest passenger train of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, the only line that runs special trains direct to the track. The Chevy base is borrowed from the program of the old Washington Jockey Club, which at one time conducted its racing at Renning track. This: Afce is named for the Chevy Chase Hunt Club, the most popular institution of its kind about Washington.
