VIVA AMERICA TRIUMPHANT Rules Supreme Over Speedy Juveniles of Her Own Sex. Pan Zareta Runs as of Old Big Attendance Speculation of Large Volume. Lexington, Ky., September 15. C. T. Worthing-tons crack filly Viva America added to her triumphs this afternoon, by a sterling victory over some useful juveniles of her own sex, which she defeated in decisive fashion and conceded them much weight. As in her usual custom, she took the lead at tlie rise of the barrier and, though under restraint, showed the way to such a speedy one as Gipsy Queen and led her for the entire race, to ultimately win by a length. Gipsy Queen was really the only serious contender in the race and she held on in game style, but was no match for the winner. Honeydew, after being far back for most of tlie way slipped through next to the inner rail on the stretch turn and outstayed the others for third place. One of the largest attendances that has visited this track was present this afternoon to witness tlie racing and enjoyed the sport immensely. Tlie betting was again of large volume and nearly approached a record total. The "Texas Wonder," Pan Zareta, showed a superior performance this afternoon to that of her initial start on the opening day and it enabled her to triumph easily over the good opposition she met. That her good race was- expected, was indicated by tlie persistent support she received, causing, hcr to be an odds-on favorite. She sprinted into the lead immediately after the start and made the pace throughout. Marion Goosby made several ineffectual efforts to overhaul her in the stretch, but to no avail and John Jr., which could, keep up with her with ease in the other race, could not reach her at any tiriie during; todays running. PROVES A DISAPPOINTMENT. Stephen R. again proved a dismal, disappointment "When ""in with a supposedly ordinary band, that started in the initial race and failed to get a place. Jockey Murphy rode him in timid fashion and it partly was responsible for his dull showing. Zim and Colle fought it out strenuously, Zim whining in. the last strides. The second race, which nlso brought out an .ordinary baud, resulted iu a victory for Pliilembn, owned by B. Viley. Chartiers rejuvenation from his last appearance under colors was surprising. In his last essay at Latonia, he was seemingly on the verge of breaking down and was beaten off. This afternoon he stayed with the leaders in the sixth race from the start and won after a sharp brush with Tom Anderson and Sister Emblem. Trainer Howard Oots was forced to order the destruction of Aristobulus as a result of the injury he received during the running of yesterdays fourth race. Williamson, a two-year-old by Jim Gaffney Aimce C, owned by O. A. Bianchi, died recently at the track. Flash of Steel was sold this morning by W. LT. Baker at private terms to R. L. Rogers, who intends campaigning a string of horses at Tijuana next winter. There was considerable interest in the outcome of the meeting between Omar Khayyam and Hourless. The general consensus of the horsemen hero wasthat Omar Khayyam would be the victor. Spring Song developed lameness, just before the second race and was excused from starting. JACK HARE JB. ON THE WAT. Col. W. E. Applegate was advised : by-a .telegram this afternoon from trainer F. D. Weir that Jack Hare Jr. and two other horses had been shipped yesterday from Belmont Park and were due" to arrive here some time tonight. The two other horses in the consignment with Jack Hare Jr. are supposedly a pair owned by W. II.. Pearce. Stephen It. was claimed out of the first race by Frazier and Farris for ,000. The Cock, owned by A. K. Macomber, and shipped to Kentucky with the trainer Murphy consignment, is now at Headleys Beaumont Farm, being the latest to join the ranks of Macomber cripples, having reached Louisville with a bowed tendon. Charles F. Price, who will serve as steward at the Louisville and Latonia tracks, was among todays visitors, having come over from his home in Louisville to spend the day and note the racing.
