Won easily; second and third driving. NIGHTSTICK, running in quickly improved form, set a fast pace under restraint, drew away at his riders leisure in the final eighth and won with speed in reserve. MARY POWELL raced in nearest pursuit and made a game effort in the homestretch, but could never get up. COUNSEL, outpaced in the early running, raced wide all the way, but closed a big gap in the last quarter. HANOBALA was hard ridden and finished resolutely. FAVOUR ran a dull race. EXPECTATION, after being saved for over two miles, moved up with a rush on the inside in the last quarter and took the lead, but was tiring in the closing strides. ST. CHARLCOTE followed the leaders under restraint in the early running and moved up steadily when called on and was gaining at the finish. PEBETO quit in the last half mile. IJOURLESS was saved behind the leaders until straightened out in the homestretch, then moved up menacingly and got to the front in the last eighth, but seemed to tire slightly in the closing strides of a grandly contested finish. DORCAS, always a forward contender, raced gamely under hard riding throughout and outstaved QUEEN OF THE WATER in the final drive. The latter slipped through next to the iZer "all and finished gamely. RHINE MAIDEN tired in the homestretch. KOH-I-NOOR was not persevered with when beaten.
