FRENCH STAKE VALUES REDUCED The Snciete dEncouragenient has published the conditions of races to come from 101S-1921 for the foals of 1017. Xo departure has been made from the fundamental principle of the French Jockey Club that the entry fee to all races under its rules shall not exceed five per cent of tho value of the stakes and that the societies distributing an amount of 0,000 pounds during the year shall guarantee nine per cent to the secoud and six per cent respectively to horses placed second ami third. The Triennial Stakes, the Prix La Kochette at Chan-tiily in 1U10. has been reduced in value by one-half, the Oaks has decreased in value from 3,000 pounds to 1.000 pounds, the Derby still remains at 4.000 pounds, while the great international race, the Grand Prix de Paris, formerly worth 12,000 pounds, exclusive of the breeders premium of S00 sovereigns, lias been reduced to S.0C0 pounds for 1019. Entries for the Grand Prix of 1910 have been retarded owing to the war until December 11. and must be made on that day to Messrs. Weather-by. as usual. Other societies in Inviting entries for 1919, have given sportsmen to understand that tho sport will be resumed on a proper basts, probably in the coming year. A consummation devoutly to be. wished.
